Dear Fellow Golfer,
The great sport of golf is booming! As a result, it is
becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy a relaxing, hassle-free day of golf at a good
quality course.
B.A.G.S., which began in the Boston area in 1989, has grown
(about 700 members) to become the largest amateur golf tournament organizer in New England.
B.A.G.S. is the most effective way for golfers of all ability levels to gain
tournament experience and improve their game by competing in well organized, regularly
scheduled 18-hole (or more) tournaments at a variety of the top public, semi-private, and
some select private courses in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
The B.A.G.S. concept has proven very successful in Rhode Island.
The Rhode Island division annually stages over 50 events at about 25 different area
courses. As a B.A.G.S. member you may participate in as many or as few of our
7 - 10 RI division monthly events (evenly split between weekdays and weekends) as
suits your schedule. In addition, you will be eligible to compete in events staged
by our other divisions - a total of about 100 tournaments at over 50 golf courses !
Our season's schedule is published well in advance enabling you to choose just the
courses and dates you want.
B.A.G.S. members are expected to be familiar with the rules of
golf and golf etiquette. We welcome applications from golfers of all ability levels.
Our tournaments are played off handicap, with most events featuring an optional
gross competition for players with less than a 10 handicap. YOU DO NOT NEED AN
OFFICIAL HANDICAP TO JOIN B.A.G.S. We are a member club of the USGA, and issue
official handicaps to our members.
I believe that B.A.G.S. offers golfers a unique opportunity. You can
become a member of our elite society by sending in your completed membership application
form.
Happy Golfing,
James Rooks - Director, Rhode Island Division
